I was here last night with a friend. The restaurant is very, very dark, which makes it difficult to appreciate the décor. This is saying something because I usually don't care about the atmosphere at a restaurant. But when you leave a place and your eyes struggle to adjust to daylight? That's too much. The service was very good and they have an extensive bar. The paneer kulcha there was also the best I have ever had. With all that's good out of the way I am forced to delve into the bad. I ordered chicken tikka masala, which they insist on calling "Punjabi tikka masala" on their menu for some reason. There's a spice level at the top of all the menu's, one through five, with five being the spiciest. I ordered my Punjabi tikka masala at a four. I was excited when my food came because it came in a traditional curry dish (the waiter asked who ordered the chicken tikka masala, I might add.) However, we were not given much rice at all. That ended up not mattering anyway because the curry, while tasty, lacked any hint of heat whatsoever. I'm the kind of fellow that if I'm not begging for my life after a curry it wasn't spicy enough. This "level 4" curry was maybe a negative 1. Very disappointing. As tender as the chicken was and as good as the bit of rice we got was I was let down. My friend's lamb korma, which is by nature a less spicy dish, packed more of a punch. The bill was high, as well. Two curries, an order of bread, a beer, and a dessert for $48.00 That's not far off, actually, but the $13.75 curry I ordered just wasn't worth what I got. There was plenty of it and if I had wanted it mild I would not have mentioned this, but it was so far off the mark.

Everything about this restaurant is good - ambience, music, servers and of course the food which was superexcellent! Never before in the US have I eaten such a soft tikki that just melts in your mouth!

The best paneer I've had in a long long time and utterly delicious gajar halwa! Must visit if you're in the area!!

Shere-E-Punjab is a very nice Indian restaurant. You can see the cool lit up bar from the outside. My husband found this place on Opentable for our recent date night. The inside was a nice surprise, we're used to seeing outdated decor and carpet. It was very modern but still felt Indian. I enjoyed the music playing. Our server was older, not very attentive after he sat us down. I normally order curries but did not see it on the menu. I was a little confused about that since curries are the norm at every Indian restaurant I've ever been to. I asked him about curry dishes since it was not on the menu and he was kind of rude about it. He said they would be able to make it. We ordered the lamb samosa for an appetizer, which was delicious, especially with the two sauces they gave with it. My husband ordered his favorite dish, Chicken Tikki Masala, the sauce was much lighter than we had anywhere which he liked. I had the lamb curry which was ok. The sauce was not very flavorful and the consistency was light. The garlic naan couldn't soak up any of the sauce. The rice was good, I enjoyed the peas that was mixed in with it. DO NOT order the mango chutney, it was a disappointment! It tasted like it was taken right from a jar. It was really sweet and did not have a sour taste at all since they described it as sweet and sour. I normally get the onion chutney at Maharaja which is fresh onions cut up and pairs up well with curries. So I thought the mango chutney was going to be fresh and light, not thick like a jam. To sum things up, the lamb samosa was delicious but my curry dish was sub par. I probably will not return, however everyone has different taste and should definitely try it. I for one will not return because I love curries and this one didn't do it for me.

I love Indian buffets! They just really hit the spot when you're craving restaurant Indian food and the favorites you wouldn't dare make at home like butter chicken. I always judge an Indian restaurant (unless it's a top notch place) by the quality of their buffet, because in my opinion, that's the best reason to visit an Indian restaurant. Sher-e-Punjab has a great buffet, I'm happy to say! They served so many options and my favorites like shahi paneer and chicken makhani. Hot naan, saffron rice, goat meat, saag, channa masala and multiple other options added to that to create a full spectrum of Indian cuisine. Everything tasted delicious! I was definitely pleased, as were my sister and my parents. The interior is nicely decorated and triumphs the standard bold reds and oranges of Indian vibrancy in its accents and lighting. They have a full bar and also make specialty Indian drinks. I tried the sweet lassi, which was good. I like that they sprinkled ground cardamom on top. The booths are very congested. It's hard to get in and out and space is really tight. I love that they cover the food in the buffet line. Always skeptical of open buffets, so this setup provides refreshing peace of mind. The location is amazing. Sher-e-Punjab is the lone Indian restaurant in the area - the next being Nala, Ruchi, Himalaya and a few others near Exton and Palace of Asia in Delaware. I'd say Sher-e-Punjab has one of the best, if not the best, buffet out of them all. It's also in one of my fave shopping centers that include a Target, DSW, and Marshall's Home Goods, three winners for me. Def check this place out!

I finally found an Indian restaurant in the area with great food. I asked them to make me their most popular dish and it turned out to be wonderful. My wife and I have ordered it twice. We will be ordering again from here the next time we are in the mood for Indian food. I hope this place stays in business for many more years.

Difficult to find with GPS but worth the search. It is in the Concordville shopping center behind the Acme Market. Once you locate it, it's well worth the effort. Weekends don't feature a lunch menu but the high quality buffet is available 7 days a week for $12.95. Won't disappoint!

I came here on Saturday night (10/18) with friends after attending a wine-tasting/candy sampling event over at the Chadds Ford Winery, and I was a little hesitant. Indian food is normally not something I do, usually because the aroma of that type of cuisine sours my stomach. I'm not a huge fan of curry either. But Shere-E-Punjab was a pleasant surprise. First of all, when we got there, I was very impressed with the interior. Polished floors, beautiful artwork, and roomy, comfortable booths greeted us as soon as we walked in. The staff were extremely polite and did not try to rush us as we browsed the menu. Because I already had a whopping four glasses of wine and nothing but half-digested sugar in my stomach, I was extremely cautious about what to order as I looked over the menu. Then I noticed the Lamb Roganjosh. I hadn't had lamb in a while, and the dish's ingredients looked safe (cooked lamb pieces in a light sauce with chopped tomatoes). Plus, it came with a side of basmati rice, and I love rice, so I figured...why not? Why not, indeed? The food was absolutely delicious. The lamb was tender and the sauce was mildly spiced, and the rice mixed well with the sauce. I couldn't quite tell what was in the sauce, exactly, but I tasted hints of cilantro and mint, and the flavors were subtle yet distinct. I want to thank the owners of Shere-E-Punjab for restoring my faith in Indian cuisine. I'm looking forward to my next visit.

The food quality is not good. I ordered chicken makhani which was very sweet although I ordered spicy one. The color didnt look good at look and had upset stomach next day. The interiors are pretty fine but the place is difficult to find with GPS. Also, the server kept asking us if everything was ok which it wasn't. The neighborhood is also not great was very lonely. The only good thing was ample parking considering other shops dont open late.

Friendly, clean and attractive strip mall Indian restaurant. It's a little hard to find as you wind your way around a huge mall but the perseverance paid off with a very good lunch buffet. I'm not a huge fan of fried balls of vegetables in cream (kofta) as a nutritional lunch but they did have a decent cabbage dish and a nicely prepared bottle gourd. The spicing was just about perfect. It wasn't blow the top off your head off which I really appreciated. The veg cutlets with channa were great and the samosas were good. It doesn't look like they have a tandoor so I passed on the chicken but they did have a couple very good chicken curries. They bring fresh naan which I am not eating but did try a bite and it was good. Nicely buttery.

I was pretty disappointed of the buffet at first glance. My first thought was, "This is it?" There didn't seem like many choices at all. However, what the dishes lacked in quantity, they more than made up for in quality. Everything I sampled tasted great - Seasoned perfectly with just the right amount of heat. The beer was probably the most disappointing. It's way overpriced. A twelve ounce bottle will set you back five bucks. Why is this overpriced? Because here in Virginia, the local Indian joints sell the one pint (16 ounce) bottles for the same price. Overall - I was pleased with the meal.

I wanted to give ZERO star but there is no option though. First, we reached there 2:30pm on that day and the Buffet time was till 3pm. I understand - hotel has to follow the time but they should stop to serve buffet after 3pm to new customer but the customers who are inside should allow till 3:15pm to 3:30pm. The person came exact 3pm and said - take it whatever you want.. That's not right. Also, I was carrying Group-on and that was for dinner and not for buffet. I asked the waiter to use it but arrogantly he said NO and turn the back. This is not the way to handle the customer. Now about food quality- it was too cold, Chicken butter masala server as chicken tikka masala. They should know the difference. They don't have selection as well. I AM NOT SUGGESTING ANYONE TO GO AND WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY.

Best Indian I've been to in the area. The buffet was so delicious!! The tikka masala was buttery and delicious- best I've ever had!!! I will definitely be going back to this beautiful establishment.

Most of their food is good but I like their "Kofta" in Malai kofta the best. It is awesome :) I have tried other locations of Shere-e-Punjab and the food is not as good as it is here at this location (At Glen Mills)

Friendly staff, great beer list and wonderful cocktails. We ordered take out but had time to sit at the bar for a pour. The staff was courteous in answering some of my questions about the menu. The garlic naan was great a perfect size. The tikka masala was pretty good ( I would perfer more spices in the sauce ) but overall was great. The eggplant dish was also very good we will be back

So now I've visited all three Shere E Punjab locations. If you've ever followed my reviews, or seen my Indian restaurant list, you will know that Shere E Punjab in Drexel Hill is a favorite of mine as well as my wife. Since Drexel Hill is so close, we rarely come out here for Indian. But, since I was in the area, and the wife wanted some Indian takeout on Saturday, I stopped here on the way home. And if my pregnant wife who hails from Mumbai craves Indian food, that means I'm having Indian food for dinner too. Gee, what a hardship for me, eh? Well, I'll say that of all three locations, this one is the nicest looking by far, and the bar certainly helps it's look. It might make me come here more often from now on. I also noticed a couple of dishes on the menu here I hadn't seen in Drexel Hill. Murg Badami was one of them, so I gave that a shot. Though it is pretty similar to the Korma they serve in Drexel Hill with the same creamy texture, it is a slighty more unique taste here. This is a good thing. Basically, Shere E Punjab has already set a 5 star precedent. This location simply had to match the food quality we have come to love, and they get the same treatment on Yelp. They certainly matched it. The Shahi Paneer and Punjabi Chana made the wife happy, and it made me happy. If you like Indian food, it will make you happy too. And, if you like the spice, the medium level here will be more than enough spice to satisfy you. I mean, I would really have to be in the mood to drive out here over going to Drexel Hill, but the important thing is that this location meets the high standard that this 3 restaurant operation has set.

Where do I begin? After we were seated we had to wait nearly 20 minutes for someone to bring us water (a server absentmindedly tried to bring us a refill but didn't realize we hadn't received glasses yet) I was putting my coat on to leave when a manager came over and apologized. My wife convinced me to stay seeing as she normally enjoys this place. It gets worse. While my wife's Chicken Tikka Masala was ok, the Tandoori wings I ordered were undercooked. I was more then happy to pay for the Chicken Tikka, but I flat out refused to pay for the wings. When it was time to leave, the manager was very rude and said "oh our wings are very good here, you have to pay for them" I'm sure they are good seeing as I've had them before. These were undercooked. The lack of service, the rude employees, and inept cooking will ensure my family and I never come back.

A group of about 14 friends ate here last weekend. We came due to the good Yelp reviews, and we were not disappointed. We had the lunch buffet on a Saturday, and everything was delicious, from the samosas to the carrot halwa for dessert. I especially enjoyed the chicken tikka masala (which you don't often see as a buffet dish) and the lamb meatball vindaloo, which was a unique dish. I wish I had eaten more while I had the opportunity, since I'm not local to the area. Definitely recommend!

Very good lunch buffet allowing you to sample a variety of items without committing to the unknown. Fresh food prepared in smaller batches as needed. Not like a typical strip-mall buffet.

Terrible food. Did take out, tandoor wings and chicken korma. We were disappointed with the wings. It had some chemical/plastic kind of taste. Not sure what they mixed up. We have tasted better wings from here before. Chicken korma was not worth the price either. We have had good food here before. Wish they were more consistent with the quality. Not worth the price.

Delicious and very reasonably priced! The lamb vindaloo and house special biryani were spot on, and the mango lassi's a must with the spicier dishes. Brought two kids with us, discovered they also have a kiddie pizza naan (but the kids preferred the biryani rice and mango lasso). We'd totally put this place in our regular dining-out rotation if we weren't just passing through the area.

Excellent! Great service, garlic nan came dripping with garlic , lamb vindaloo was cooked perfectly, had hot on a scale from 1-5, 4 being next to spiciest, and it was good. Highly recommend.

Love this place! The atmosphere is wonderful.. there is always some pleasant, exotic music playing and I love this when dining here. The decorations/ambiance is wonderful! The place is immaculate... my husband and I prefer to stop in for the lunch buffet (offered 7 days a week!) because he and I enjoy being able to have a little of this or that.. and try new things too! The food is always fresh, delicious and the naan is also fresh, light, buttery and fluffy & crispy at the same time! It's perfect! The bad part is only when they come and offer you more naan ( and you're stuffed! ) The staff is welcoming, makes sure you have everything you need, clears your finished plates and dishes right away and refills your drinks as often as you need. On your way out they thank you for coming. We cannot wait to go back again! Yumm!

Lunch here in December 2013 and it was really good. Lots of variety, flavor and choices on the lunch buffet. They had a significant number of vegetarian items too. The samosas were crunchy and had lots of tasty filling. The naan was delivered to the table hot and fresh. Owner was very friendly and nice. Great place for a meal.

Hit and Miss. Ate dinner and loved it, had lunch about a week later at the buffett (great deal by the way) and then did take out. Two good and one not so much. So I will give the benefit of the doubt and say its worthwhile. Id aim toward the Media location as I dont think they have their act together in Brandywine yet.

Me and my girlfriend only had Indian food once and were always willing to try it again since it was more of a smaller entree. I came here for my girlfriends birthday and she was already impressed with the available seating and the manners the gentleman had, we had a seat along the wall with a wonderful view and cozy atmosphere. First thing we ordered was an appetizer, We had an assortments of tandoori breads with two types of dipping sauces which were very tasty, the waiter was very patient and had given us the time needed to select the main dish, I had selected the Lamb vindaloo and she had ordered the Murg kurahi, both dishes were marvelous and superb. The pricing of the food is not bad at all, especially for the tasteful experience you will have. We will be back to try out some more dishes.

I'm so happy this new location of Shere- E Punjab opened in Glen Mills. I've been here three times now and everything's been great. They do not have a lunch buffet but they do have lunch specials. The palek paneer is amazing, and so is the naan. I wish it was a BYOB but they have a full bar and a decent wine and beer selection. Everything's prepared at your preferred spiciness level from 1-5. I just wish it weren't always empty! (Even at 6:30 on a Saturday night.) They're not visible from the road and they're tucked in the back corner of the shopping center (between the Honeybaked Ham and Capriotti's, on the other side of the W&S store)

Really happy I stopped in. I ordered some garlic naan, murg (chicken) vindaloo, and masala tea. They brought out some papadom (sp?) with coriander and tamarind chutneys. Both were excellent and I could have eaten them as soups. The vindaloo (served with very good rice) was perfectly spiced (I asked for 5 which is hottest) and the chicken was cooked well. The naan was a little thin and crispy, but taste was good, especially when I put on some of that great chutney. Service and decor are Above average. I had a great time sitting at the bar watching a Phillies game. Bathroom was immaculate. Though I didn't get anything, the beer and wine list was the best of any Indian place I've been to. Can't wait to go back.

My favorite new Indian restaurant. Everything we got was great, and most items can be ordered with varying levels of heat. a 3 out of five was just right, but I might try kicking it up to 4 on my next visit. The atmosphere is very nice and not the overly decorated and gaudy decor you see at most Indian restaurants. Nice bar as well.

This has quickly become my favorite local Indian restaurant. Everything I have tried has been excellent. The atmosphere is very nice and the service is great. Since they are still relatively new and in a tucked away location, within the Concordville Town Centre, I have never had to wait more than a few moments to be seated. My personal favorites on the menu are the Pashawari Naan (which tastes almost like a dessert with the sweet coconut inside) and the Punjabi Chana. I usually order a Mango Lassi to go with my meal. Everyone I have brought here has really enjoyed the food also. I will keep coming back and highly recommend this place!

Been many times to the big-sister restaurant in Media, Pa and loved it. This one started out well. Food is good. Decor and ambience is very nice. loads of cosy booths. almost modern bistro atmosphere which is lovely, and music is present, but In the background. Their rating of spiciness in a 1 - 5 scale doesn't seem to mean much, as our main dishes all had the same average spiciness, despite our asking for a range between 2 and 5. We couldn't figure why they had bothered to ask! Wait staff are friendly and helpful, but we must have had 5 different servers during one meal, and they were definitely not all on the same page. That becomes mildly irritating when someone else asks if they can take your order!!!! Overall, the food is very good, although we really did want a spicy blast on a couple of dishes, but everything is fresh and aromatic.

This is some of the best Indian food I've ever had. On par with places that I've eaten like Rasika in Washington DC and some really great curry shops in the UK. We've been there for lunch and dinner and the food has been consistently fresh and delicious. I love the fact that they have a 5 point spiciness level for you to pick your comfort level. The "regular" is spicy enough for a wimp like me. We've had the Tikka Masala, the Saag, the Vindaloo, the Aloo Gobi, the Naan, the fish appetizer, the samosas, and the Aloo Tiki Chat (which I LOVE). All fabulous. Would highly recommend...would love to see this place stay in business so get out there and support it!

I have been to this restaurant three times since september, which itself is unusual for us as we dont usually eat out often. The first two times were eat-ins and the third time was a take out. I believe that this restaurant is the best Indian restaurant in the Philly area - the ambience, the quality and service are all excellent. The first time we ate here, our waiter was very attentive and made sure the order was made as per our 'Indian' tastes. The food was exactly what we wanted and a class apart from the average fare dished out in the name of Indian cuisine at the typical Indian restaurants. We were back within a month and this time, ordered two different dishes. We werent dissappointed ! (Dont miss their gobi naan !) This is one of the very few Indian restaurants I have seen in the Philly area that has clean, spacious toilets with good decor. The third time we ordered a take-out and for some reason they thought we had ordered 1 naan when we had ordered five naans. In order to make up for this misunderstanding, the restaurant only billed us for one naan ! I thought this was a great gesture on their part and showed that customer comes first for this restaurant. Keep it up !!

Came here for lunch. A little pricey for lunch; I wouldn't exactly call them specials. The menu says they come with salad, but we were brought a small plate with some iceberg and cucumbers with no dressing for the two of us. We also were given only only one small bowl of rice for us both to share. The waiter asked if we wanted a refill of naan, but didn't mention the double cost. I also thought the main dishes were mediocre. So, maybe this place better for dinner, but we weren't impressed for lunch.

"So nice to have a bona fide option for Indian food out here in the franchise food barrens. Opted for chicken korma, malai kofta, naan. All were very well prepared, to rival the best I've had in larger city venues . Definitely worth a return visit ." Ambience is nice, quiet and welcoming, service is attentive, not overreaching and food is outstanding, fresh and authentic.

We stopped by this place for an early dinner on a Friday afternoon after work. I have to admit that we were initially a bit skeptical, as the restaurant is nestled in a shopping complex (Glen Mills location) and almost always appears to look empty. However, we were pleasantly surprised. There were a variety of selections on the menu, all of which could be customized according to your preferred spice level (1-5, with 5 being the most spicy). We ordered about 6 different dishes and all were good- just the right amount of seasoning/spices. The wait staff were friendly, and the restaurant itself was not too bad. Probably not enough seating for large parties, but ample seating for a typical lunch (or dinner) crowd. We have sampled several Indian restaurants in the PA/NJ/DE area (Nirvana, Palace of Asia, Monsoon, Tashan), and we believe that the food here is pretty decent compared to other places. Will definitely visit again.

I have been to this restaurant several times for both lunch and dinner. the ambiance is nice and the people friendly. The food is very good. I find the menu a bit complicated because their dishes are not the standard Indian fare. The chef puts his/her own gloss on to (what I think of) as traditional Indian food. There is a full bar and a list of exotic cocktails. The lunch menu is good, a reasonable price, and served to you. No buffet. I recommend this restaurant.

We were a little apprehensive of this venue, since there was only one review on Yelp. The location is somehow hidden at a major corner (Rt1 &322) and as the previous reviewer noted, the dining room was pretty empty for dinner Sunday. But we ordered 5 dishes and all were very good. The staff were friendly, there is a wide beer selection (Belgian to Indian) and overall it was a great meal. We observed many more take out customers than eat in. Maybe that's to be expected for Indian in this location? But whether takeout or eat in, seems you can't go wrong. Try it out.

Finally found an Indian restaurant that serves Vindaloo really spicy. Have had it at several other places in the area and it never comes out more that mild. Here, I ordered #3 on a scale of 1-5 and trust me, if you go above 3 you better really like spice. The rice was maybe the best rice I've had also. Super light and fluffy. The chicken dish with mild sauce was tasty and suitable for anyone. Super friendly people . The waiter brought us extra rice and was attentive in refills on ice tea. When the weather gets better they have a nice outdoor seating area. This place is not BYO, unlike thier other places.

I live in Queens in NYC so I eat Indian food on a regular basis. While home visiting my parents we decided to try out this new Indian restaurant. I would say that the Indian food was good, but nothing special. I was satisfied with my meal and they gave good portions. The ambiance of the restaurant was WAY better than Indian restaurants in NYC that often just look like diners. There was music playing, but at a low enough volume that you could still hold a conversation. The service was a little slow. The restaurant was full and I think they may have been a bit overwhelmed. I would also encourage you to stick to the mango lassi as a beverage, we ventured to try their cocktails and 2 out of 3 of us were unable with our choice due to lack of ingredients.

Haven't been to much Indian places but this place is pretty good, a lock if you're looking for some spicy vegetarian food. If vegan, expect to pay extra for your starch. The basmati rice cannot be ordered without butter mixed in. It also cannot be substituted with a vegan bread. Service could use some serious improving (seems to be a theme across this chain of restaurants)

We dined with vegetarian friends and shared aloo gobhi (cauliflower/potato), dal makhani (lentils), palak paneer (spinach cottage cheese), and baingan bhartha (eggplant). The eggplant was delicious. The meal was fantastic. But the portions were not very big, especially for the price, so I was a little disappointed there was nothing left to enjoy with eggs in the morning. Service awkward but attentive. Ambiance relaxing though the acoustics seemed to be off. We ordered our food mild. Looking forward to returning soon and trying some dishes with meat.

Consistently great food, on par or better than most Manhattan or Queens Indian restaurants. (based on three meals at this place)
